Sustainable Products & Solutions
Fung Group develops and operates responsible, agile supply chains that meet the demands of the dynamic, global retail sector and address our common sustainability challenges. Convening our customers, business partners and influencing our industry to create sustainable products is essential.
Our initiatives focus on procuring and sourcing higher volumes of sustainable materials, products and packaging in our direct and indirect supply chains, improving the environmental health of our communities, and taking steps to establish circularity initiatives in the supply chain.
GLOBAL FASHION AGENDA (GFA) – CEO AGENDA
Since 2016, Li & Fung has been a founding, Strategic Partner of GFA. Providing leadership insight and a platform for collaboration and joint action, GFA aims to create circular business models of the future. We have been working with Make Fashion Circular to build the evidence base to promote new business models that increase the reuse of clothing, with a focus on scalability.
Educating the Next Generation of Inclusive Fashion Designers
Global Brands Group partnered with the International Fashion Academy Paris to support the first edition of the school’s Unthreading Project: a program focused on sustainable and inclusive fashion design, with students creating apparel specifically for disabled people using recycled materials and sustainable design processes.
SALVAGING YARN WITH 22 FACTOR
Our knitwear specialist, Cobalt Fashion, salvaged excess luxury yarns destined for landfill and breathed life into them by creating new garments. The upcycling project launched as a pilot and Cobalt has now turned the concept into the commercial brand, 22 Factor.
Sustainable Apparel Coalition
Our partnership with the SAC provides access to the Higg Index, a suite of tools to assess the sustainability performance of products, brands, and supply chains. We train our global design and production teams to use the Higg Material Sustainability Index (MSI) to make informed sustainability choices to reduce the environmental impact of our products.
We were early explorers of the circular economy in Asia and are now collaborating with other fashion industry leaders through the ‘Make Fashion Circular’ initiative to make circular a reality. This initiative was launched in May 2018 by the Ellen Macarthur Foundation with the vision of driving momentum for a circular economy for fashion.
DIGITAL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
We use innovative design and careful supplier management to create sustainable fashion. Our digital product development teams help our customers transform how they develop, assort, buy and sell product; reducing waste in every step through eliminating physical samples and making the right design decisions to reduce excess inventory.
